The Pleasure Playground Event

Pleasure Playground began with Kyra Newton facilitating workshops for the conscious dance community in Calgary at the beginning of 2022. It started out as an exploration of pleasure through the senses, exploring the textures of our flesh, skin, and bones, and inviting ourselves to slow down and feel. As Kyra deepened into this work, it began to evolve into sensual embodiment, self-expression, the reclamation of pleasure, and the use of the voice with the moving body. Since it’s conception, more than 150 people have experienced this medicine.

& Pleasure Playground is now a workshop solely offered for Women. This intention of this offering is to slay shame within a circle of sisters, and allow ourselves to deprogram from cultures ideologies that have silenced our self-expression, made us feel wrong for what we desire, and have influenced us to tame our vibrant, expressive selves.

& now, Pleasure Playground has evolved again! It is a fierce force, with yearnings to grow and grow to serve more women.

The Pleasure Playground Event is next level of sensual embodiment, sacred sisterhood, healing, and transformation.

It is a space for women to gather and abolish old paradigms to celebrate one another and honor the expression of each unique woman.

This event is a safe space where you can take it all of to expose your raw, unapologetic truth. This is a space to cry, shake, roll your hips, connect to your primal nature, and feel radiance of you.

This is an event for Queens, Goddesses, Visionaries, Badasses, and Divine Femme’s.

Here are the juicy details

We begin with an opening ceremony at 6:30 PM, using our voices to call ourselves home and see one another. We will honour the land and set our intentions for the event.

Cacao Ceremony will be led by Sarah Connolly. Who will guide us to connect to our wombs and our hearts. We will honour the plant medicine of cacao and remember our Truth as Women.

Following the Cacao Ceremony, at 7:30 PM, we will deep dive into a sensual somatic dance. The foundations of Pleasure Playground, led by Kyra Newton. This is the nectar of the event and will invite you to go deeply inside, feel your body, and uncover hidden parts of yourself that have gone suppressed, unseen, or unheard.

After the sensual somatic dance, Pleasure Playground , we will let our inner freaks fly to three incredible Woman DJ’s , from 8:45 PM – 12:00 Midnight.

First we have the divine Shylo Love ‘KILONOVA’

Then we will have Samatha ‘Distinct”

And to close off the evening we have the vibrational and epic Chanutelle, CYNCRON. Who is coming from Edmonton to inspire us!

Kyra Newton ~ Pleasure Playground Founder

.
Kyra Newton is an explosive force, she is a mover, shaker, and visionary with a lot to give. She has a big personality and it is only getting bigger as she continues to live bravely and stand by what she values. Kyra values honesty, innovation, bravery, sensuality, expression, creativity, authenticity, and growth. It is her daily intention to embody these values and continuously show up to live her life on purpose.

She is a Medicine Woman, Truth seeker, Creatix, and Sacred Space holder. As a Somatic Mentor and professional dance artist she supports women through her business, Embodied Woman. Kyra continues to guide women to create trust within and lead their lives from their inner knowing, transform their relationship to their bodies, and reclaim their power through sensual embodiment, vocal activations, and elemental wisdom.

She has lived through a sh$t ton, from challenging family dynamics, to toxic relationships with men, self-destructive behaviors, and suicidal struggles. Over her time on this earth she has reclaimed her own power through movement, somatics, dance, shadow work, and adventure. Her process of alchemy has served her to turn her life experiences into her magic, offering embodied wisdom to the women in her community.

Newton obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in contemporary dance and sociology from Simon Fraser University. She holds certifications in Somatic Attachment Therapy, Equity in the Arts, Rozsa Arts Management, DanceAbility, AXIS teacher training, and Inner Journeys Ecstatic Dance. She has traveled across North America to receive high caliber training as a professional dancer and she has studied different movement methodologies with world renowned mentors. She is currently pursuing the Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Certification to continue enriching her spaces with somatic wisdom.

One of Kyra’s biggest creations to date is Pleasure Playground, a safe and sacred space for women to express themselves freely, show up unapologetically and embrace their sensual bodies. She has facilitated this workshop across Alberta for over 150 people. And what started out as a workshop is growing into a monthly event, retreat, and facilitator training program.

Kyra is SO freaking excited about the ways she is serving women through somatics, embodiment, and elemental wisdom. She is happy to be living in this timeline as a woman and grateful for all she has learned, lived through, and experienced.

Shylo ~ KILONOVA (DJ)

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.. there was a KILONOVA! Boom!

KILONOVA, aka Shylo ॐ Love of Sound ॐ Love Alchemy☿, produces multi-genre music using an alternate tuning of A=444hz, which tunes the C key to 528hz. Known as a “whole tone”, it is a master/tonic key that emanates peaceful, healing vibes and just feels really good!

Over the past 13 years, Shylo has studied various energy healing modalities and sound healing therapies, utilizing these skills to produce an alternate frequency album in 2009, a Chakra balancing meditation album with Sound ॐ Love Alchemy☿ in 2011 and a multi-genre dance album as KILONOVA in 2018. She recently released several tracks in 2022 under her new record label LoveFire Records. These musical works of art are loved in over 135 countries… music unites us!

KILONOVA has been behind the decks since 2013, spinning at various festivals and events around Alberta and BC, Canada. Her sound is feel-good, melodic and upbeat ‘bassy boom boom’. Having a love for many genres, she spins everything from downtempo, indie and chill to progressive house, bass house, deep house, breaks, techno, liquid dnb and progressive psytrance. Depending on the occasion, she sometimes complements the beats with tuning forks, instruments or live vocals.

KILONOVA aka Shylo ॐ Love and Sound ॐ Love Alchemy☿ are regularly featured on LoveFireRadio.com, an international online radio station which was co-founded by Shylo in 2011 and supports a vast group of talented DJs and producers from western Canada.

Samantha ~ Distinct (DJ)

At the age of only seventeen, Distinct was quickly infatuated with the sounds of Drum & Bass. It wasn’t long before hearing the fast paced genre that she was out purchasing her first pieces of vinyl. Due to an extensive musical background, it was only a matter of time before she was dabbling in a variety of other genres including glitch-hop, funky bass, breaks and electro house.
Her versatility and ear for top notch electronica has landed her numerous club and festival gigs across Canada and the United States.��With an already extensive festival circuit, a dream to conquer the world, and a family of experienced and supportive female artists to back her, there is no stopping this ball of D&B fire, as this is only the beginning of a very promising career.

CYNCRON (DJ)

Cyncron, otherwise known as Chandon Autumn, was born in Merritt Island, Florida. She frequently moved from her hometown to various parts of Canada. While growing up, there was always music playing. Even while in the womb, her mom was rocking out on stage as a powerhouse vocalist. As a child, she grew up in bars and studios watching her mom’s bands perform live, and it was with this vision at such a young age that a seed of desire was planted to dedicate her life to discovering and following her wildest dreams.

Fast-forward several years later, Chandon moved to Edmonton and created a magazine called The Dream Zine. She began interviewing DJs and producers, which provided new-found knowledge and inspiration in her own passion for music. Digging for the freshest tunes had always been a ritualistic obsession, but it was at this time that she finally had the confidence to begin DJing.For nearly 5 years now, she has played shows and festivals around western Canada as a DJ, and more recently as a fire performer. She has also hosted a few of her own events in the city with the help of friends in the community.
